Gage Pedro, representing Yelm Tornado Track Club and Timberline High in Washington, won the boys 15-16 hammer throw with a sixth-round mark of 165 feet (50.30m) at the USATF National Junior Olympic Track and Field Championships at Sacramento State. Pedro, entering his junior year, also relied on a sixth-round performance of 162-10 (49.63m) in the discus to elevate from sixth place to runner-up, in addition to placing 13th overall in the shot put at 42-0.75 (12.82m).
